How Feng Shui Can Help You Attract More Abundance in Your Career

If you want to bring in more prosperity and wealth through your career, it’s a good idea to look at your home office, and specifically your desk. Your desk represents your career and path in life, which affects how much abundance you can attract to you.

One of the most important things to pay attention to is the location of your desk. When you’re at your desk, what are you facing? Your view from your desk has a big impact on your energy, and is reflected in how much abundance you can invite in through your work. In feng shui, we recommend placing your desk in the commanding position. This means that you are facing the room, instead of a wall, and that you can see the door to the room without being directly in line with the door. Usually, you’ll be located diagonally from the room’s entrance. Being in this position represents being in control of your life and career.

If it’s not possible to put your desk in this position and you have to face a wall, you can improve the situation by putting a mirror on the wall in front of your desk. When you’re directly facing a wall at your desk, this can mean there is a block in your career or path in life, or that you’re not able to move forward. Placing a mirror here will expand your view and allow more forward motion.

Often, people will orient their desk towards a window. While this can give you a pleasant view while you’re working, it isn’t the best position for someone who wants to advance their career, because it means that your qi, or your life force energy, is going out the window instead of staying with you and your work. Instead, try placing your desk so that the window is at your side, so you can take breaks to enjoy the view without getting too distracted from your career and wealth goals.

Once you’ve found the best location for your desk, you can also activate the Wealth corner to invite more abundance and prosperity through your career. To find the Wealth corner of your desk, divide your desk’s surface into a three-by-three grid. When you’re sitting at your desk, the Wealth area will be in the far left corner. This area is connected to how much wealth you can attract, as well as your self-worth adnd how you value yourself.

To activate this area of your desk, you can place a potted plant or a vase of freshly cut branches or flowers here. A plant is ideal, because it is a way to invest in slow and steady growth when it comes to building wealth through your career. If you are using cut flowers or branches, be sure to change the water frequently and refresh the stems when they are starting to wilt.

Try Making This Feng Shui Change in Your Kitchen To Increase Your Wealth

Photo and design by Anjie Cho Architect PLLC

In feng shui, your stove represents your wealth and resources. This is where you prepare (or at least heat) food for you and your family, and being well-nourished is an important step in making sure you are able to go out in the world and cultivate financial resources

Ideally, it’s great to have a stove with several burners. More burners represent more opportunities to receive wealth, resources, and nourishment in your life. For instance, I recently designed a kitchen with a six-burner stove. This is wonderful if you have the space and resources to do this. However, not everyone can accommodate six burners in their home — I’ve also worked with people who only have two burners or a very tiny stove.

If you’re not able to upgrade your stove to a bigger one, don’t worry! You can adjust this with a carefully placed mirror. You’ll want the mirror to be located in a way so that it reflects your burners, which visually and energetically doubles them. As you put up this mirror, do it with the intention to double your wealth. Note: make sure you choose a mirror that can safely withstand heat if you are placing it close to your stove.

While this can help to create a powerful shift in your life, remember that feng shui is not a magic pill. Even more important than making feng shui changes in your home is taking mundane action. If you don’t show up for all the opportunities you have, no amount of feng shui is going to help. It’s important to step up and take care of yourself and explore the things that you want to change in your life

I invite you to get curious about how you can take action in conjunction with trying this feng shui adjustment. This could mean reaching out to more friends, or increasing your skills and wisdom so that you can deepen your offerings. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you are taking concrete steps here on earth in addition to making changes in the invisible world.

Q&A Sunday: Purple Flowers for Abundance

Do you have any tips to bring in more abundance?

I get a lot of questions about abundance and prosperity, so I have several posts on this topic - you can read a few of them here, here, and here. I’ll also share another tip for abundance that I love: purple flowers!

On the feng shui bagua, there is an area connected to wealth and abundance, also called Xun. In addition to material wealth, it’s also connected to the feeling of abundance in other areas of your life. It’s also related to the color purple.

If you want to bring in more wealth and abundance, try bringing some purple flowers into your home. If you want, you can even place them in Xun position of your home or bedroom. You can get fresh cut purple flowers in a vase, or a houseplant with purple flowers, like African violet. I have an African violet plant that was only about two leaves a few months ago, and now it’s grown into such a beautiful, luscious plant! Watching a plant grow like this teaches you that the world and nature are generous and abundant. It also teaches you that you have the ability to cultivate whatever it is that you need; all the wisdom is within you.

If you’re wanting to welcome more abundance into your life, I encourage you to bring some purple flowers into your home!
