Feng Shui Plants: Greenery that Goes the Extra Mile

featured on Léon & George

Indoor plants do so much for us. They add beauty to our space, clean our air, and come with a myriad of mental health benefits to boot. But what if they could do even more? According to the teachings of Feng Shui, they can.

We asked expert Anjie Cho of Holistic Spaces to give us the scoop on how plants can bring us good Feng Shui, which plants are particularly impactful, and where to place them in our homes to maximize the benefits.

“Plants are a way to bring nature’s energy into our homes and interior environments. Nowadays, we spend more and more time indoors, and having plants in our homes is a way to reconnect with nature and ground us,” says Cho. “In an energetic sense, they are very healing for us, and in a practical sense, they improve the air quality, provide soft surfaces, and beautify our home.”

What Is Feng Shui?

In a nutshell, Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy which uses energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment and the natural world. Translating to “wind” (feng) and "water” (shui), the basic principles of Feng Shui lie in the belief that we can live more harmonious and fulfilling lives if we connect and flow with the space around us.

The Best Bedroom Colors That'll Help You Fall Asleep, According to Feng Shui

featured on MindBodyGreen

Crafting a bedroom that lulls you to sleep is an art, not a science. All the warm lighting, cozy sheets, white noise machines, and blackout curtains in the world can't guarantee a good night's rest if the underlying energy of your space is off. According to feng shui design philosophy, there are many factors that contribute to a room's overall feel—and color is a biggie.

I reached out to three feng shui designers to get their take on which shades will leave you counting sheep and which ones are better left outside of the boudoir.

First off, what's the luckiest color in feng shui?

All three of the experts I talked to agreed that red is the most auspicious color in feng shui since it's so fiery, passionate, and life-affirming. "That said, red is a very strong color, so you don't need to use a lot of it," Anjie Cho, an architect and feng shui educator, clarified. How to Place Your Bed for Good Feng Shui

featured on The Spruce

According to feng shui principles, the bed is the most important piece of furniture in your home because it represents you.

Just think about how many hours you spend in your bed. You probably devote more time there than any other place. And the time that you are in bed, you are typically sleeping. When asleep, you’re in a passive “yin” state and more susceptible to the energies around you. So your bed placement affects you in your conscious and unconscious states.

Therefore, if you start anywhere with feng shui, start with your bed! If at all possible, always place the bed for the best feng shui. If it’s really impossible, there are some ways to correct it. I highly suggest you place it in the best way and opt to correct it if you have no other option. Here are some tips to place your bed for good feng shui.
